Erin Nelson Sweeney

My name is Erin Nelson Sweeney, and I graduated from the University of Alabama in May 2013 with a bachelor's degree in visual journalism.

I am the Director of Photography at Starnes Media in Birmingham, Ala., where I shoot content for six, formerly seven, monthly community newspapers in the greater Birmingham-metro area. Other responsibilities include posting regular content to each of the Instagram accounts in the form of photos, stories and reels.

I began my professional career working as a photography intern at The Tuscaloosa News in 2012. I continued working as a freelancer for The News and was hired as a full-time staff photographer in 2014.
